Since 1989, it’s owner/chief operator Kim Thomas has produced the majority of the fat frogs found in the hobby. After introducing the Albino Horned Frog in 1992, “The Frog Ranch” grew in to what is now, one of the largest captive amphibian breeding facilities in the world. The frogs that we receive from “The Frog Ranch” are of the highest quality, disease free and robust. We also have the added benefit of our friendship with Kim and his willingness to (at our request) hand-pick all of our orders himself and select the frogs that exhibit the most vivid coloration and bizarre patterns.

We are a home based business, with the ability to monitor conditions and administer care 24/7. This applies not only to just our animals but to our numerous colony’s of feeder insects as well. Once in our care, each phib is monitored for a period of no less then one week to ensure that they are feeding well and exhibit no signs of disease. Prior to being purchased, all phibs are cared for as if they were our own pets. We take no shortcuts in their husbandry, nutritional requirements, diet and so on.

This began as early as 1985 when Jela’s owner, Jeff Kennedy (then just 7 years old) acquired his first fire bellied toad. That toad was just the beginning of what would turn out to be many more herps in Jeff’s future. That same fondness is shared by the entire staff of Jela’s. To our advantage, we have received countless credit hours in the specialized fields of science and biology, obtained direct, first hand accounts of several reptile and amphibian species and can reference numerous studies that of which we have contributed to. To this day, we are still educating ourselves and conducting studies on the animals that we keep. The data that we collect allows us to gain more knowledge about the species, which can then be passed on to you, our customer. Each staff member is an expert on the species that we offer, their individual care requirements as well as proper enclosure set-up.
